About James Kelly
As you can see from my photo, my cycling includes sleeping whenever I can, even in a busy picnic park!
I was born in London and have lived there all my life. For the last two years I've been working and living in Spain as an electrical engineer and author, and I've decided the time is right to finally tick off the box on my list that says “get off your backside and do a big bicycle ride while raising funds for a worthwhile charity”. Having been to America several times (I think you'd be hard pushed to find a more beautiful state than Arkansas) a coast to coast seemed the obvious choice.
Being a Brit, I spell Colour with a “U”, my bike is made from Aluminium not Aluminum and the only place you should find a trunk is on an elephant and not on a car, however, the words “Multiple Sclerosis” are spelt the same all over the world. It is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. I hope that in some small way, my little bike ride of 3070 miles along the Southern Tier and the funds raised will help make life more comfortable for those afflicted with this terrible disease.
I know this won't be an easy ride and having already spent some time in the US, I'm looking forward to exploring more of the country and meeting some wonderful people along the way. It would be an honour if anyone reading this decided to pledge a few dollars or pounds to help me raise the funds needed to reach my goal of raising a dollar for each mile I ride.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and an extra special thank you in advance if you decide to donate. Right, I'm off to see if there's anywhere along the Southern Tier where I can get a good cup of tea and a crumpet!
