To my fellow riders:

Hi to all my 2017 Southern Tier team mates!  I am looking forward to spending a challenging September and October riding 3000+ miles together, enjoying great fellowship and raising money for MS.

I am a 63 year old retired business owner who enjoys the blessing of good health and an active life style .  I have always been a runner, but in 2010 began riding a road bike to try something a little easier on my body.  Four years ago my wife of 40 years also joined me on the road when we purchased a tandem bike.  After recovering from her back surgery last Fall we are now beginning again to enjoy miles on the tandem.  I have always been interested in one of the epic cross country rides -- she has no interest!  After hearing me hint several times, she said, "You aren't getting any younger -- find a ride and get it done in 2017".  Thanks, honey!

Since 2010 my wife and I have ridden the local MS 150 two day fund raising rides.  What a great cause!  When MS sufferers are cheering you on from the roadside what a great feeling!  When I discovered that there was a similar program to raise money for MS and ride coast to coast I knew I had found the right ride.

I hope some of you riders share my anxiety about this ride I. don't mind heat, but is anyone else concerned about riding the southmost part of the country for two months -- 40% of it in south Texas!  And, I've camped my entire life, but I honestly think sleeping on the ground for 50+ nights is for the Boy Scouts!  And, when Kaylyn explained all my "stuff" had to fit in a "cubby", I asked how many cubbies do I get?  Yes, the answer was ONE!

Looking forward to meeting you all in San Diego.  Stay healthy, train hard and raise money for a great cause!
