About Robert Smith

Hi, my name is Robert “Bob” Smith and I am a 66 year old retired forester.  I was born and raised in Michigan, served 4 years in the United States Marine Corp and graduated from LA Tech University with a degree in Forestry in 1976.  My wife and I have been happily married for 44 years.  We have two children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

I have ridden on numerous MS 150 rides and in 2015 I had the awesome experience to ride across America for MS as a member of the TransAm team. This year I’ll have the privilege to ride the Northern Tier as a route leader.

I am excited to have the opportunity to take on this challenging endeavor along with my fellow cyclists to help raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis or (MS).  MS is a chronic often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system.  To learn more about MS, click on the Cause Tab on this web page or visit:  http://www.nationalmssociety.org/What-is-MS

Our journey will begin in Bar Harbor, ME on May 27, 2017 and end in Seattle, WA on August 4, 2017, a distance of 4,295 miles.  This is where we need your help.  Each cyclist is asked to raise $1 per mile in donations.  You can donate by credit card by clicking on the Donate to Robert Smith tab on this web page.  Donations can also be made by check, payable to Bike the US for MS.  Please put “Robert Smith” on the memo line of the check and mail to:
