About John McCray
Three years ago my Aunt passed away from an autoimmune disease. She was an avid cyclist and community advocate, and I decided to ride her bike across the country to celebrate her life and commitment to bettering the lives of others. After researching how best to achieve this I decided to ride with Bike the US for MS because of their commitment to providing direct aid for people suffering from MS, their support for MS treatment research, and their commitment to making sure as much money goes towards the cause as possible. And although I went into this decision with the intention of helping others, it has become an enriching and life-defining experience for me.
After riding with BTUSFMS for two years (TransAm ’15, Great Divide ’16) I have seen first-hand the detrimental effects of Multiple Sclerosis on communities throughout the country, and how important our work is. Traveling across the country and hearing people’s stories that have benefited from our help has made every pedal stroke worth it.
Currently, I’m attending Graduate School at James Madison University pursuing my Master of Public Administration, concentrating in Non-Profit Management. In pursuing my degree, I have the incredible opportunity to Route Lead as a part of my program. I’m excited to be involved with BTUSFMS in this new way and get to learn, grow, and explore with my fellow riders.
To my fellow riders: If you have any questions about touring or preparations, or just want to say hello, please feel free to contact me.
To Friends and Family: Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and encouragement as we continue to fight to end MS!
