About Dale Johnson
Two of my life philosophies have been to “Never Stop Adding Adventure to Your Life” and “Always Try to Help Others”. Completing the Bike The US For MS TransAm route, in 2010, allowed me to fulfill both of those philosophies as well as being one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.
As I turn 65 in 2017, I know it will become harder to continue to add adventure into my life, so I’m hoping that participating in the 2017 Bike The US For MS Southern Tier from San Diego, CA to St, Augustine, FL will allow me to keep that philosophy alive as well as helping others through the wonderful organization Bike The US For MS, which I have come to know quite well over the years.
The 3,070 mile ride, over 52 days, will allow our group to raise both funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. We will also be stopping along the way for service projects to assist those affected by MS.

I look forward to riding my bike each day, meeting new friends on the ride and along the way, living a simple life for 50+ days, and helping others. What could be better?
Biography: My wife Christine and I are currently retired and living in Lancaster, Pa. My background is in geography where I was involved in natural resource applications as well as teaching geography at Towson University for many years. Nowadays, I fill my time with a variety of volunteer opportunities. I volunteer for the Farmland Trust which helps make Lancaster County the #1 county in the country in preserving farmland. My role is making yearly visits to the preserved farms, which are about 90% Amish. I also run a monthly food collection program in our community where we collect money and food for several charities addressing hunger in our community, especially among children.
I enjoy all kinds of music, reading, learning Spanish, travel, serious badminton, volunteering, ballroom dancing (with my wife, of course), having dinner with friends, flying my drone, watching all kinds of sports, and of course riding my bike.
“Life is like riding a bike. You must keep moving in order to keep your balance.” - Albert Einstein
