About Mike Beauchamp

Riding across the USA....Hell yes, I can do that! Growing up I had two older brothers who would often leave in the wee hours of the morning, riding 20+ miles, one way, just to to go fishing. I wanted to be like them, so without consent, I would ride my bike often and far, by age 11, I was riding (without parental knowledge) to my brothers house, which was 12 miles away.                     Well I grew up, got married and 5 years later my so was born. Once he could ride, together we rode often and far. In 1984, when he was nine, I started riding on “Dalmac” a 4 day 300 mile bike tour, he wanted to ride along, and at age 14, he did. In March of 2001 I had surgery for prostate cancer, my last radiation treatment was on Wednesday August 29th. That morning my son watched as they gave me my final radiation treatment, immediately afterward we were off to begin riding Dalmac, but that year my son would be my personal SAG. When I was too tired to ride, he would be there to pick me up. TBC
