About Richard Davies
Well, I’m back to do the Pacific Coast Tour again in 2018 after doing it in 2017. Only this time I’m super excited to be doing it with my son!!! It will be his first time doing any kind of multi-day ride. In fact, he has just started riding now (fall of 2017).
I rode with Bike the US for MS in 2014 on the Northern Tier route and had an amazing experience. The bonding of the riders that year and the route leader’s support made for a life time of fond memories and friendships. Participating in service projects as we traversed the states and meeting new people was very rewarding. I also rode with Bike the US for MS on the Southern Tier as a segment rider in 2014 and again in 2016.
The group on the Pacific Coast ride in 2017 was just as outstanding as the previous rides I have participated in. The Route Leaders couldn’t have been better. Their support and enthusiasm for the riders was stupendous!!! Their extra water stops on a couple of extremely HOT days showed their caring for the riders.
My only association with MS is a friend, Pat, that has MS. He was very active as a personal trainer and coach for fellow Air Force members. He was very fit himself and a great asset to the Air Force. Shortly after his retirement from the AF he was diagnosed with MS and it has taken a toll on him. Pat, along with all of the other 400,000 individuals diagnosed with MS, is why I feel a need to raise funds for more research into causes and hopefully a cure for this disease. Each rider has pledged $1 per mile and I hope to raise more than my pledged goal of $1852. I am looking forward to another challenging ride with this great organization, along with the honor of performing service projects for those who have lost some or all of their mobility due to this horrible disease.
