Late in 2015 I was lucky enough to have been introduced to Bike the US for MS months after losing my father to Multiple Sclerosis. I had already been using cycling as a coping mechanism and someone close to me was able to connect the dots. So I tossed the idea around in my head for a few months and commited. My close friend, Jake, decided to join me biking the Pacific Coast while my cousins Ben and Pat dedicated their self-contained ride to the Florida Keys in memory of my father. We all rode in support of Bike the US for MS.
Last year I planned to continue supporting BTUSFMS and bike the Sierra Cascades route self-contained. For one reason or another, that plan fell through and I committed for the second time to bike the Pacific Coast and I am glad I did. I was able to attend the Alumni reunion in Seattle, meet more of the extraordinary people that support and run the organiztion, and made more special connections along the ride.
This year I will continue to support and ride for BTUSFMS. For the third time in a row I will be biking the Pacific Coast. I am already thrilled to know I have a few friends that will also be joining the ride as a route leader, segment cyclist, and full length cyclist.
