About Jon Crisman

Welcome to my Donation page for my bike ride across the US for MS

On December 31st 2017, I retired from Jackson's International Auctioneers and Appraisers after nearly 40 years of service. I have always believed in challenging oneself whether it be physically, mentally, or in various creative endeavours, and have found that one never loses the ability to learn, grow, and improve, no matter what the age.

I have been a passionate bicyclist for many years and my interest in physical fitness extends with a deep desire to help others around me improve their abilities. Since 1978 I have been handicapped after a  life altering auto accident. Left in the Wyoming desert with a back broken in numerous places and with resulting spinal cord damage, I was faced with the prospect of never being able to walk again. At 19 years of age one tends to believe they are indestrucable, but life can truly change at a moments notice. But just as a traumatic change can lead to desolation lt can also lead to advancement. With the help of God and personal resolve I fought to make a nearly complete recovery. It is however, a remaining paralysis in one leg that gave me a special empathy and understanding to those afflicted with nerve damage and disorders including Multiple Sclerosis. For over 40 years I have been concious, and thankful of every single step I have taken,. While for me walking is not difficult it can at times be challenging. When on a bicycle I can at least feel "normal".. It is for this reason that I chose to ride the over 3,000 miles this fall, to help others with a disease that destroys ones nervous system, mobility and quality of life.

I ask all of my friends and acquaintances to please donate what you can to my ride. I also ask anyone else that has a friend, loved one or relative with MS to please consider donating to this special cause and  I will ride hard and tirelessly on their behalf. Also in addition to the 3075 mile journey from San Diego CA to St. Augustine FL, our group of riders while be making stops along the route  providing  help and assistance  to victims of MS.

My goal is to raise $10,000 for MS but I can't complete this ride alone and would be honored by any help through donations I receive. No amount is either too small or too great, and all will be greatly appreciated.
