About Andrew Rowlands

Growing up in Central PA, I've always had a certain affinity for the freedom a bikes offers, initially brought on by becoming a paperboy in my early teens and eventually expanding to a point where my friends and I would bike to the nearest diamond to play a pickup game of baseball, venturing further and further away from home as the years went by.

Nowadays, given that I reside in NYC, I mainly treat biking as an escape from all the hustle-and bustle of the city, whether it be evening loops around Central Park after work or day rides to NJ, upstate NY or Long Island. There are numerous reasons as to why I'm an advocate of biking, but the one that trumps them all is biking for a cause.

The day after my 29th birthday, I will be embarking on a 350 mile, 1-week journey with Bike the US for MS - Transam Team through VA & KY. This organization was brought to my attention by my cousin, Kurt Rishel, whom will be completing all 3,800 miles this summer. I recognize what he is doing is a life-changing experience and I want to be able to support him along the route for as long as my schedule permits.

In order to do this, I'll need your support as well. My goal is to raise $1,000, exceeding the $2 per mile required of me. All proceeds donated will go towards researching a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, in addition to creating an overall awareness about this debilitating disease. Your contributions will undoubtedly also have the effect of keeping my legs churning as I tackle the toughest leg of the trip, the Appalachian Mountains.

Thank you for your kindness,
