About Connor Kirby
My name is Connor and I am honored and grateful to be one of the 2014 TransAm cyclists. I am currently a Horticulture major with a minor in Spanish at the University of Maryland at College Park. I love life and I want others to enjoy life too. I want to be a farmer when financially possible so I can help feed hungry people in the community I choose live in. Additionally, I want to pursue farming get people more intimately involved with where their food comes from. A major reason I am participating in Bike the US for MS is to help people with MS achieve a better quality of life by spreading awareness, research, and treatment of the disease. I want to help eliminate suffering in any way I possibly can, and since I love biking, this organization seems like one of the best things I can do to help people and have a good time while doing it.
I have lived in the rural town of Poolesville, Maryland my whole life. Here, I was involved in scouting as a teen. Eventually, I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. I was also in the Global Ecology Magnet Program at Poolesville High School. I have grown to love nature and the environment through my life experience. I have traveled to other parts of the country, but for the most part, I have remained on the east coast. I would like to get to know parts of this country more intimately, and I feel that there is no better way to do this than bike across our beautiful nation!
Help me reach my goal of $4,500! I appreciate any help I can get!
