About Charles Holbrook
I was born in Marietta, Georgia on July 21st, 1948. During my last year of high school, I met the love of my life, Janet. We married in my second year of technical college and will be celebrating our 45th anniversary this September. Just after graduation I went into the USMC Reserves for a year of boot camp and training. Upon completion of my active duty, I started working for Georgia Power Company as a technician. I continued to work for GPC/Southern Company in training and engineering projects for 39 years, retiring in August, 2010. I am blessed to have two great sons, two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.
I’ve had the opportunity to serve and work on many volunteer projects. These include Scoutmaster, building chair for a new sanctuary at our church, driver for the 1996 Olympics, mission trips to Guatemala and local work at homeless shelters and a children’s home.
For my fortieth birthday, my wife gave me a bike and I have loved riding ever since. I’ve ridden across 4 states, the Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Natchez Trace. My goal is to put my tire in the Pacific Ocean.
