About Stefan Molinaro
Hi Everyone! Thank you for visiting my page. I am wicked pumped to perform this ride across the US. Today we can make a difference for MS whether it is donating to my ride or other participant’s ride, or being aware and learning about MS.
My name is Stefan and I am 23 years old from the spec on the map known as Rhode Island. I am currently a fifth year urban planning student at the University of Cincinnati and will be graduating with my bachelors a month before the ride. After this Transamerica endeavor, I will be going to graduate school for landscape architecture. I have recently been hooked on riding including downhill, mtb, and road. I am also an avid soccer fan/player as well as snowboarder, photographer, hiker, runner, and traveler.
Unfortunately, MS is a detrimental disease that has no medical cure, but continues to make progress through research, awareness, and treatment. The disease damages the central nervous system, which can lead to severe issues with mobility, cognitive functioning, and vision just to name a few symptoms. Anyone can develop the disease, however, there are some patterns and more the 2.3 million people are affected by MS worldwide. Below is a link to the National MS Society website where you can learn more about this disease.
Among the many rides Bike the US for MS organizes, I will be enduring the TransAmerica ride. The endeavor consists of several cyclists riding together from Yorktown, VA to San Francisco, CA between June 1st and August 1st. Each biker is required to raise at least $1 per mile for the 3785 mile trip. Along the way we will be helping people with MS through service projects and spreading awareness to the 9 states we go through.
Although I am only a young adult at the age of 23, so many great and exciting things have happened in my life. I have been given a good head and strong body and for years I have been doing things to better myself and future. However, not everyone is given such opportunities and abilities to take them. MS is an unpredictable disease that affects the body and mind. For years I have been helping myself and working hard for a better future, but after graduation I want to give back and do something that will primarily help those who are less fortunate than I. I want to ride for the people that either struggle with the disease as well as the MS patients who push on through life without having the disease holding them back. Everyone deserves to fight for their lives and live normally, but for those who can not, I will ride for them and hopefully bring valuable funds to research and care while also putting my body through its own struggles while on the ride. I also want those awesome tan lines and to experience eating large amounts of food without affecting my body.
THE PEOPLE (YOU)
As stated before, I have pledged to raise a minimum of $1 per mile, which means a fundraising goal of $3, 785. Anything you can donate will help fund my ride and MS research. You can donate online or by mail. Please contact me if you would like to do so. If you don’t have the money to donate, then just spread the word.
