About Will Luck

Hey, you made it! I’m so jazzed you’re here. Come on in and let me show you around.

My name is Will, but my friends call me Will. I’m currently a Creative Advertising student at Virginia Commonwealth University slated to graduate December 2015. Am I a senior? Maybe. Who knows? Let’s not dwell on it, but if you insist on name-calling, I prefer “seasoned scholar” or “veteran academic.”

If you feel unnaturally kind today, call me a writer. I love stories, specifically wonderfully woven wordy ones. Say that three times fast. Nice. I couldn’t do it.

I aspire to write magic. To become a word-wizard that can teleport readers to other worlds, where we run free and taste, smell, see, hear, maybe even feel new things. Fuzzy, weird, possibly blue things. In order to do that, I have to write a lot, and experience more than a lot.

To invoke J.R.R. Tolkien: Never laugh at live dragons.”

Sorry, wrong quote. Here it is:

If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!”

So, that’s what I plan to do. Get out there, and take as many of you with me as I can. We aren’t going just for kicks and giggles either. Like all great adventurers, you and I have a quest.

Well Then, What's The Quest?

As part of the Northern Tier Team, I’ll ride from Bar Harbor, Maine on May 28th, 2015 to fight Multiple Sclerosis.

MS is a sinister illness that turns a person’s immune system against him or her, causing it to attack the coating of nerve cells and cause scarring. This scarring—the Sclerosis part of Multiple Sclerosis—causes signals from the nervous system, the control network of the body, to be slowed, distorted, or stopped altogether. This scarred delay can cause a variety of symptoms based on its location and severity: anything from muscle weakness and fatigue, to vision impairment, to paralysis.

There is no known cure for MS and there are approximately 400,000 people with MS in the United States– with 200 more people diagnosed every week. Worldwide, MS affects more than 2.5 million people.

How You Join Said Quest

Every dollar contributed here puts me a mile closer to Seattle, the end of our journey, and that much closer to finding a cure.

Seattle is 4,295 miles away, so I need to raise a minimum of $4,295.

But minimums are for squares. $7000 sounds like a nice, round, lucky number, and 90% of it will go towards MS research, patient assistance, and outreach.

Every donation counts and makes every donor a part of this fight. I’ll also be keeping a blog as I ride across the Northern US, writing about everything so you can be right there with me.

Thank you for coming and reading, and I do hope you’ll join me on this adventure.

You can donate right here using the button at the top right of the page, or mail a check with my name in the memo-line to
