About John Zaniker

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page to support our 2015 RAAM Bike the US for MS team.  It is a privilege to have been invited to once again do RAAM with this team following our first race last year where we completed the 3000 mile course in 6 days, 15 hours and 43 minutes.

Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. MS affects over 400,000 Americans.

MS has had a significant impact on my life.  My father was diagnosed with MS when I was 11.  Over the next 10 years, his condition worsened, initially taking his ability to work, and then walk, care for himself until it eventually took his life.   In 2003, my brother Jeff was diagnosed with MS.  Fortunately, advancements in treatments have allowed him to live a mostly normal life.  Jeff is one of our team captains and riders for this race.

Please help us find a cure by supporting our 2015 RAAM fundraising effort.
