About Kaylyn Messenger
“The bicycle is a simple solution to some of the world’s most complicated problems.”
Hi there! I'm one of the route leaders for the 2016 TransAm route, and whether you're a future Bike the US for MS cyclist or just a curious web surfer, I'm psyched you're here!
I'm 22 years old and a senior at Bowling Green State University in Ohio (it's actually one of the stops on the Northern Tier route!) I'm studying psychology, but after another summer with Bike the US for MS, I'll be on my way to grad school to earn a Master's Degree in Social Work. Last summer I biked the Northern Tier route and I'm so looking forward to another cross country journey in 2016!
So, why do I ride for MS?
This is a cause I am so passionate about. In 2014, my aunt passed away from complications of MS. I wanted to do something in memory of her, as well as raise money and awareness for MS research, and that's when I came across this amazing organization. I definitely was not an experienced cyclist, but now here I am a year later, ready to help lead your journey across the country!
I can promise you that this organization and a summer on the road will change your life. My fellow Northern Tier cyclists became some of my great friends. The service projects we did along the way, the people we met, the stories we heard... it's an experience that leaves you craving more. We'll see ya in June!
