About Adam Huttenga

Thank you for taking the time to visit this page!

My name is Adam Huttenga, and I currently teach grade 7 and 8 English at Ada Christian School in Michigan. Aside from forcing kids to read and write, my co-workers and I strive to teach our students the value of service, sharpening character in the midst of challenge, and working to help those with greater needs than one's self. I am beyond excited to try and put myself to that test this summer through an amazing organization - Bike the UK for MS.

I have been hearing about Bike the US for MS since 2012 when one of my friends and his brother embarked on the Northern Tier tour of the United States.  When they returned, they were, of course, both elated about the adventure and personal challenge that the trip afforded them - that was to be expected. What I didn't expect was how every one of their stories would be overshadowed by their zeal for the organization, and all of the people they had met along the way with Multiple Sclerosis. Each story demonstrated an air of admiration and inspiration from those who not only rise to the incredibly difficult challenges of living with MS, but do so with a truly admirable attitude and outlook on life. I have been following Bike the US for MS ever since, and have also learned more about this debilitating disease. During those years, I have been happy to donate to the organization and support my friends who ride. This year, I am exstatic to say that I will finally be able to participate directly by riding across the UK!

This summer, I will be biking (with a group of other cyclists whose profiles you should also check out) from Northern Scotland to Land's End, England. In doing so, we also aim to raise money to help aid those afflicted with MS, as well as organizations that are researching a cure for the disease. For my part, I aim to raise £1 for every mile we cover - for this journey, that means just over £1000! (or $2000, American friends). My legs hurt just thinking about it, but I am excited!

I understand that it is important to know where your money goes, so please rest assured in the fact that I will be covering my own expenses as a rider as much as possible. To learn more about where donations will go and how they will be used, please visit the official site of Bike the US for MS. There you will learn more about MS (which everyone needs to do), as well as the amazing people and missions involved with this great organization.

Any donation of any denomination is unbleivably appreciated, and I humbly thank you for anything you are able to give. This is truly a cause that deserves support, and although one person with a bike may not make a huge difference, many people banding together can spark a huge change. Let's band together to help those with MS.

Thanks!
