Bike the US for MS 2024 Covid-19 Protocols

At Bike the US for MS, the safety and well-being of our riders, support teams, hosts, and the MS community we passionately serve have always been our number one priority. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, our commitment to conducting impactful rides without compromising health standards remains unwavering. In light of ongoing challenges, we’ve formulated this set of Covid-19 protocols to safeguard our community while fostering the spirit of adventure and service that defines us.

Pre-Arrival Protocol

Vaccination Encouragement

In alignment with CDC recommendations, we urge all participants to consult with their healthcare providers to stay current with COVID vaccinations. Our collective safety starts with individual actions.

Prepare to Test

We recommend each rider to bring at least two FDA-authorized rapid COVID tests. Preparedness is key to ensuring the health and safety of all participants.

On-Ride Covid-19 Protocols

Symptom-Based Testing

Should you experience symptoms indicative of COVID-19, distinct from the usual fatigue and muscle aches of cycling, you will be required to take a rapid test or visit a local testing center. A follow-up test may be necessary if symptoms persist.

Positive Test Response

Participants testing positive for COVID-19 will need to arrange for their temporary departure from the ride, at their own expense, to prevent spreading the virus within the group. This could mean self-arranging transportation or staying at a nearby accommodation. Rejoining the ride will be contingent on CDC guidance relative to the severity of your symptoms and recovery progress, emphasizing safety for the individual and the group alike.

Adhering to Host Guidelines

We are fortunate to have so many incredible hosts on our various rides across America. Without them, we simply couldn’t operate as an organization. With that in mind, we pledge to respect any additional precautions or requests made by our hosts, embracing our roles as considerate guests.

Considerations for Engagements with the MS Community

In recognition of the unique vulnerabilities of those living with Multiple Sclerosis, we will adhere to any additional precautions requested by members of the MS community during our interactions. Whether it involves wearing masks, ensuring outdoor meetings, or implementing other specific safety measures, our priority is to respect and protect the health of those we meet and support on our journey. We commit to approaching each interaction with understanding and flexibility, ensuring that our presence is a source of support, not stress, for individuals living with MS.

Sanitation and Food Safety

The health of our teams extends to how we manage our shared spaces and meals. Hand sanitizer will be readily available, and we will implement enhanced sanitation practices for kitchen use, especially for individuals recently recovered from COVID-19.

Flexibility and Respect

Individual Choice and Community Respect

Understanding that our collective endeavor is rooted in shared goals and mutual respect, we encourage everyone to consider additional personal safety measures that align with their comfort and health needs. Whether it’s opting to wear masks in closer quarters or undertaking extra tests, we support each rider’s discretion to go above and beyond our outlined protocols.

Community Engagement and Responsibility

As we ride through the beautiful landscapes and connect with communities across the US, our actions reflect our deep respect for the people and places we visit. We remain adaptable, ready to adjust our practices in response to evolving public health guidelines and the needs of the communities we engage with.

Thank You

As we gear up for an inspiring season of cycling, service, and solidarity, your health, safety, and well-being remain our highest priority. The 2024 Bike the US for MS COVID Policy is designed to provide a framework for a safe and impactful journey, but it is the collective action and responsibility of all participants that will ensure our success.

We are more than a cycling event; we are a movement united in the fight against MS, driven by you, our community. By adhering to these guidelines, we not only protect ourselves but also contribute to the broader effort to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, ensuring that we can continue to support those living with MS.

Thank you for your commitment to making the 2024 ride a safe, enjoyable, and meaningful experience for everyone involved.
